The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a nonprofit organization which supports the Marine Corps' annual toy drive. The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at St Michael's Hospital. Since its beginning, the charity has raised tens and thousands of pounds to help families with sick or premature babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its mission is to provide families with accommodation facilities as well as state-of-the art equipment for the NICU.
One of the main focuses is the Cots for Tots House, a free "home from home" for families who stay at the hospital. It is located opposite the NICU and allows parents to stay close to their child. The charity has helped more than 2,100 families stay in the house since 2012.
Families staying at Cots For Tots House are reassured they are not alone. They are part of a community of parents who are going through the same issues as they do and they are able to help each one another out. They also have access to a range of facilities that will ensure their stay is as comfortable as is possible.
The charity also provides an artist who visits the NICU to ease anxiety and pain for parents and their babies. It has been proven this improves the quality of life for the patient and their family members. Music therapy also helps reduce the amount of medication required to treat these children, saving money and time for the hospitals. The therapist utilizes specially-designed resonant instruments tuned to certain frequencies and play soothing tunes for babies. Resonant instruments can also relax mothers and fathers.

"Without it, who would know what our lives would appear?"Selecting the right crib for your baby is a major decision. Natasha Attwood has a special relationship with the charity, because she stayed in the house with her son Cobie and her daughter Avalon. She describes it as "a Godsend". Her daughter and son are both healthy now, but she still visits them frequently and is grateful to the staff who looked after them.
